Tsunami

This is a horrible horrible thing. More than 22 thousand dead already, and I am sure hundreds more.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041227/ap_on_re_as/quake_tidal_wave_17

What is worse is that there was no warning system in place for earthquakes/tsunamis on the indian ocean. Those people could have been warned to leave or to get to higher ground. This also makes me think of what America would do in this situation. Say a Big earthquake hit in the ocean, and caused a tsunami on the coast of california. How would we deal with it? Even though we have warning systems, etc, i still believe it wouldn't go over well at all. Not that national disasters should. But i guess you know what i mean. Here are more links:

neighbors

I always wonder why neighbors never talk/meet anymore. I live in a small neighborhood where the houses are about 20 feet away from each other. Growing up there were(and still are because they are almost all still here) 6 houses around our house, where all the kids played with each other no matter the age, and all of the parents were friends. They did stuff together, etc...fast forward 15 years. My next door neighbor moved out, and about 2 years ago another couple moved in. They are lovely people(we met them 2 or 3 times) but they have no desire to want to become friends, or even talk through the fence to say hi when we are both in the backyard. It we(my parents or i) are leaving and they are outside, we always make an effort to wave, say hi, etc...and they always wave back, but they look like they just don't want to get to know anyone in the neighborhood. We are all nice people here, no gangsters or drug dealers or anything like that. Most of the people around my house are my parents age with adult children. So why don't they open up? And its not just here its happening. More and more people are keeping to themselves and not sharing. Now i'm not saying i want them to become instant friends with us or anyone else, but just to be friendly. People put themselves on guard with other people now, and that just isn't cool. I am a very openly friendly person, maybe too much, but i always make an effort. I guess I am rambling here, but do you the reader know what i am trying to say? I hope so, because its 2am on christmas, and due to my nephew we have been up since the crack of dawn. Happy day after christmas, and remember, only 365 more shopping days til next year.

cake

The concert was awesome! What i saw in the Halo before the show, now that surprised me a little. But, i was assured that it was harmless.=)

Cake played a lot of their older stuff, and i personally believe they were the best out of the four bands that played. Now the lead singer SO doesnt look like i thought he would. He was a bit weird, but my kind of weird. He had this wide-eyed look the whole show. I definitely can't wait to see them again next time they are in town.

kokology

I bought this book awhile ago, and love going through it. Actually there are two books. I highly suggest going to borders, or your bookstore of choice and buying them.=)

Kokology is a series of psychological games designed to reveal your hidden attitudes about sex, family, love, work, etc...

Here is one of the questions asked in the book. It gives a situation, and then gives you 4 choices as to pick from. What you choose reveals sometime about yourself.

Under a clear blue skyImagine a clear blue sky without a cloud in sight. Just thinking about it should give your spirits a little lift. Now turn your minds eye down to survey the landscape. Which of the following scenes feels the most calming and relaxing to you?

A. a white snowy plain
B. a blue seascape
C. a green mountain
D. a field of yellow flowers

I picked B when i took this one.

Answers:

The scene you pictured contrasted against the clear sky reveals a hidden talent that resides in the depths of your untroubled mind.Answers:

a. If you answered A you are blessed with a special sensitivity that allows you to comprehend situations at a glance and decipher complex problems without needing any proof or explaination. You have what it takes to be a clear sighted decision maker and even something of a visionary. Always trust your first intuitions; they will guide you well.

b. You have a natural talent for interpersonal relations. People respect your ability to communicate with others and the way you help bring diverse groups together. Just by being around, you help others work more smoothly and efficiently, making you an invaluable member of any project or team. When you say, nice job, keep up the good work," people know you mean it. So it means that much more to them.

c. Your gift is for expressive communication. You always seem to be able to find the words to express the way you feel, and people soon realilze its exactly how they were feeling, too. They say that joy shared is multiplied, while shared grief is divided. You always seem able to help others find the right side of that equation.

d. You are a storehouse of knowledge and creativity, bursting with ideas and almost infinite potential. Keep attuned to the feelings of others and never stop working on building your dreams, and there is nothing that you cannot achieve.
